About me

Caio Manzotti

I'm a product designer who ended up specializing in systems: the parts of a product that don't show up on a single screen, but shape how everything else gets designed and built. I've worked across fintech, travel, and marketplaces, usually joining right as a company outgrows ad hoc decisions and needs a way to make good design repeatable.

At ServiceNow, I design how AI shows up inside enterprise software: dense, high-stakes tools like Task Mining and automation, where the job is making complexity legible rather than adding another layer of interface on top of it.

I care more about the process behind a design system than any single component in it: how decisions get made, how teams contribute without a bottleneck, and how a system earns trust by measurably solving the problems it was built for. Most of what I write about (see the Research reports on the Writing page) comes out of trying to answer that in practice, not in theory.

I just worked with Caio on the Process-Task Mining design stories, and I'm impressed by the work he did. All actions on the UI are well thought out and he can come up with very good reasoning for why to do this and why not. He also is able to familiarize himself with process/task mining technology, which is critical for good design, but not an easy task to do.

Senior Director of Product

You did a very good job. Thanks for summarizing the context and content.

VP of Product

Great to see the progress on the design system, and thanks for taking the time to share this. Keep up the good work!

Speaking

I like to talk about design: giving talks when I get the chance, on design systems and how they actually get built.

Mentorship

I mentor other designers 1:1, mostly around design systems and career growth.

Caio is a great designer with a lot of experience and an expert for design systems. He understood right away the challenge that I was facing, and offered me invaluable advice aimed at taking me one step ahead in the game. Many thanks, Caio!

Jackie Torizani, UI Designer at Bitmarck

It was my first mentoring session and honestly speaking Caio was so welcoming as soon as we got on a call. He shared all his best practices and was genuine with the intentions to help me. I asked him some doubts around moving forward in my career with design systems and he was able to give me pointers on how to think about it going forward.

Learning

I make a point of showing up as a conference attendee, not just a speaker: it's where I pick up how other teams are actually solving the same design systems problems, outside of what makes it into a talk. Recent stops include Bratislava, Ottawa, Seattle, and Milan, among others.

I write more on design systems in practice over on the Writing page, and hold an MA in Digital Management from Hyper Island.
